Shanghai Mint Museum

The Shanghai Mint Museum is located in the office building of Shanghai Mint Co., Ltd. (formerly the Shanghai Mint), a "Shanghai Municipal Outstanding Historical Building" situated along the Suzhou River. Covering an area of approximately 600 square meters, it stands out among numerous coin museums across China with its unique focus on "minting craftsmanship." The museum houses three exhibition halls: the "Modern Minting Techniques Hall," the "Contemporary Minting Hall," and the "Mr. Bock Donation Exhibition Hall." These galleries showcase a wealth of archival treasures, including representative coin products, molds, equipment, minting techniques, and processes from various periods spanning over 90 years since the factory’s establishment.

In 2010, the museum added the History Review and Mr. Bock Donation Exhibition Hall, featuring coin collections donated by the late renowned American numismatist Howard Franklin Bock. Highlights include two world-famous and extremely rare "Gold Standard Coins," precious coins produced by the Central Mint, as well as a collection of old maps, vintage photographs, and other valuable archival materials from the Central Mint stored in the museum’s vaults.

Coins represent the honor of a nation and the interests of its people. Since its official opening on December 1, 2005, the Shanghai Mint Museum has remained committed to its public welfare mission. It offers free admission to industry professionals and coin enthusiasts from the general public, taking on the proud responsibility of promoting coin knowledge, fostering coin culture, and providing patriotic education.
