Monument to Chairman Mao's Instruction at Lizi Garden Brigade

The Monument to Chairman Mao's Instruction at Lizi Garden Brigade is a patriotic education base.

Before liberation, Lizi Garden Village was also known as "Barefoot Lizi Garden," a poverty-stricken village notorious far and wide. In the winter of 1952, 18 poor farming households in Lizi Garden, led by Xu Shisheng and others, established the Lizi Garden Agricultural Production Cooperative, gradually bringing prosperity to the farmers. The Zhenru District Committee wrote a summary report titled "The Experience of the Lizi Garden Agricultural Production Cooperative in Zhenru District in Reducing Costs," which was submitted to the central government. Chairman Mao personally read the report and added his own instruction. Both the report and Chairman Mao’s instruction were compiled by the General Office of the Central Committee into the book "The Socialist Upsurge in China’s Countryside." Inspired by Chairman Mao’s instruction, the people of Lizi Garden seized opportunities during the reform and opening-up period, accelerated development, and embarked on the path to prosperity. The village has been successively honored as a Shanghai Civilized Unit and a National Model Villagers' Committee.
