Zhongyuan Liangwan City stretches from Hengfeng Road Bridge in the east to Jiangning Road Bridge in the west, borders the Suzhou River to the south, and reaches the Inner Ring Elevated Road to the north, covering a total area of 490,500 square meters. The planned construction area is 1.6 million square meters, featuring a 2,000-meter waterfront along the Suzhou River and a 60,000-square-meter central island naturally encircled by water. The entire community is built with elevated ground floors, offering continuous greenery and a seamless blend of water and sky. Prior to redevelopment, this area was part of the “Two Bays and One Residential Block” (Panjiawan, Tanzitan, and Wangjiazhai), home to nearly 10,000 residents and over 170 enterprises and institutions, making it one of the city’s largest and most densely concentrated areas of dilapidated and makeshift housing. In 1998, it was developed in four phases by the COSCO Sanlin Real Estate Group. Leveraging the site’s natural topography and proximity to the river, Zhongyuan Liangwan City adopted a design philosophy of “open spaciousness and dense landscaping” to create wide tree-lined boulevards, a water-surrounded green belt encircling the city, and eight themed green spaces rich in Jiangnan garden characteristics. Together with the scenic Suzhou River waterfront, these elements form a vibrant and picturesque landscape.
