Shanghai Venice Town

The most representative British-style town in the Magic City. Its architecture and street signs are all very photogenic, making it a paradise for photography enthusiasts.

The town features a castle, a church, a fountain square, numerous cafes, as well as galleries and art museums. The “Most Beautiful Bookstore,” Zhongshuge, is also located here.

The lion fountain sculpture at the town entrance reminds us of the faraway “City of Lions” in Italy. Although this “St. Mark’s Winged Lion” in Shanghai is small and delicate, it still exudes strong presence, marking our entrance into a dreamy and beautiful “European town.”

A winding canal runs through the entire town, with a gondola dock at each end. On weekends, boatmen pilot sleek, pointed gondolas carrying tourists along the canal.

By evening, when the surrounding skyscrapers fade into darkness, the town lights up with shimmering lamps. With the water gently rippling, it resembles a tender-hearted maiden, enhancing the illusion of being in Venice.

The real Italian water city is undeniably beautiful, but traveling there takes time and effort, and you’ll have to squeeze in with tourists from all over the world. Macau’s “Venetian” may be bustling, but it’s overly commercial and artificial.

In contrast, this Venice Town in the Magic City currently has no shops open around it, so it remains peaceful and serene, quietly showcasing its unique charm.
