Tonglefang is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Covering an area of approximately 20,000 square meters, Tonglefang is located in the Xikang Road and Yuyao Road area of Jing'an District. Over 60 years ago, it was home to a cluster of Shanghai-style lane factory buildings, including more than ten small factories such as the China Steel Factory, Mapo Mountain Candy & Biscuit Manufacturing Factory, and Zengtai Textile Dyeing Factory. As times changed and urban functions were redefined, the old factories fell into disuse.

In April 2005, Tonglefang was designated by the Municipal Economic Commission as one of the first 18 creative industry clusters in Shanghai. By preserving the diverse architectural styles of the lane factories, it has been transformed into a top-tier entertainment and lifestyle leisure destination. Visiting Tonglefang is like flipping through a miniature scroll of Shanghai’s lane industrial development history. During its renovation, creative industries were introduced into the lane factory spaces. Guided by the principle of “preserving the old as it was” and with the mission of “creating joy,” the external environment retains the distinctive character of traditional Shanghai lane industrial buildings, while the interiors have been redeveloped into artistic and fashion creative spaces that blend international flair, cultural richness, and interactive experiences.
