Zhabei Youth Activity Center

The Zhabei Youth Activity Center is a Shanghai Municipal Cultural Heritage Conservation Unit and a Patriotic Education Base.

Situated in Pengpu New Village in northern Shanghai, the Zhabei Youth Activity Center spans an area of over 8,000 square meters, with a built-up area of more than 11,000 square meters. Since its founding, the center has welcomed over 100,000 visits from officials at various levels and honored guests from both home and abroad. On April 30, 1996, [Comrade] paid an inspection visit and inscribed the encouraging words “Nurture a new generation.” The center has been awarded the title of “Shanghai Civilized Unit” for four consecutive terms, and has also received numerous honors including “National Advanced Youth Palace,” “National Outstanding Contributor to Children’s Art Education,” “National Special Contribution Unit for Young Pioneers’ Civic Virtue Development,” “Shanghai Advanced Collective in Mass Culture,” and “Shanghai Advanced Collective in National Defense Education.” The center houses facilities such as an art gallery, science and technology museum, library, water park, small theater, and amusement area. It serves as an off-campus educational institution integrating art education, science and technology education, labor skills education, moral education, and recreational activities.
