Zhuyuan No.1 Sewage Conveyance Branch is a Shanghai Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a patriotic education base.

The Shanghai Combined Sewerage Management Office is the operating management unit of the first phase of the Combined Sewerage Treatment Project. Since the project officially commenced operations on April 1, 1995, it has played a significant role in eliminating the foul odor of the Suzhou River, improving the water quality of the Suzhou River and the lower reaches of the Huangpu River, enhancing the quality of Shanghai’s industrial and agricultural products as well as drinking water, improving public health, and enhancing the urban environment.

The office covers an area of approximately 40,000 square meters. Its Pengyuepu Pumping Station is one of the largest and most advanced modern facilities in Asia. Visitors can tour the central control room and engage in hands-on operations, providing young people with an intuitive understanding of wastewater treatment. This helps foster greater environmental awareness among students and citizens, and inspires a love for the nation and a commitment to protecting the Earth. The Combined Sewerage Management Office is a Shanghai science education base and offers free group visits for youth organizations by appointment.
