The Exhibition Hall of the Struggle History of the Shanghai Underground Communist Party Organization is a Shanghai Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a classic red tourism attraction.

Located on Yuyuan Road in the bustling Jing'an Temple area, this brick-and-wood Western-style house was the first in Shanghai to employ the building-wide integral jacking and shifting technique. It was the former residence of Liu Changsheng, an outstanding leader of the Shanghai labor movement and the underground Communist Party at the time, as well as one of the secret offices of the CPC Central Committee Shanghai Bureau. In 1992, the residence was listed as a Shanghai Revolutionary Memorial Site.

The precious belongings of Comrade Liu Changsheng add significant value to the Exhibition Hall of the Struggle History of the Shanghai Underground Communist Party Organization. Lifelike miniature scenes such as the “April 12th Incident” and the “Torture Water Cell in Building 76” instantly transport visitors into the historical atmosphere through sound and light effects. The last words and personal items of the martyrs vividly recreate the indomitable and persevering spirit of the Shanghai Communist Party organization. Seemingly unremarkable secret liaison points of the underground party, such as the Rongtai Tobacco Shop and Fengji Rice Shop, inspire visitors to explore the secrets behind the success of our Party’s revolution.
