Pengpu Park

Pengpu Park is located on Changzhong Road in Pengpu Township and is a municipal garden. Established in March 1983 and opened to the public on December 28, 1984, it was listed as one of the 15 practical projects undertaken by the Shanghai Municipal Government in 1984. The park serves as a recreational space for residents in the Pengpu Xincun area.

The park has a naturalistic layout and is divided into two main sections: the inner garden and the outer garden. The outer garden is open and spacious, with a stacked yellow-stone rockery at the entrance, along with a scenic wall and arbor structures that create a sense of depth. The inner garden is winding and tranquil, featuring pavilions, corridors, trellises, bamboo groves, and wooded areas. The yellow-stone rockery located outside the park’s main gate measures 7 meters in length, 2 meters in width, and 5 meters in height. It is surrounded by podocarpus, red-leaf plum, phoenix tail bamboo, cluster-flowered rose, and lilyturf. To the east of the main gate is a scenic wall made of reinforced concrete, 16 meters long. It extends from north to south before turning westward for an additional 2 meters, standing 3.6 meters high with yellow mosaic trimming, and features rectangular lattice windows.

To the west of the scenic wall is a wisteria trellis, also made of reinforced concrete. The trellis extends northward with a single overhang, measuring 11 meters in length, 2.5 meters in width, and 4.5 meters in height. The four supporting columns are adorned with decorative lattice windows, and two wisteria plants are planted here. On both the north and south sides of the trellis are planted magnolia, osmanthus, crabapple, gardenia, azalea, podocarpus, privet, hypericum, dragon juniper balls, and clumping bamboo.
