The former residence of Eileen Chang is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Changde Apartments, formerly known as the "Aidingdon Apartments," is a seven-story building constructed in 1936, designed by Italians. Its exterior features light pink walls with brown trim. Although located on the bustling streets near Jing'an Temple, it remains quiet and unassuming.

The building is filled with the stale air of old Shanghai. As you enter, you’ll see an old Austin elevator, and further in are dim stairwells with weathered walls marked by the traces of history.

In 1939, Eileen Chang and her aunt lived in Room 51 of this apartment building, and in 1942 they moved to Room 65 (now Room 60). During this time, she wrote famous works such as "Love in a Fallen City," "The Golden Cangue," "Red Rose White Rose," and "-" here. Her essay "Notes of a Shanghai Apartment Life" describes life in this very building. Hu Lancheng’s portrayal of Eileen Chang’s lifestyle in "This Human World" also refers to this place.

This is the former residence of the renowned writer Eileen Chang. It is a French-style apartment building constructed in the early 1930s, now known as the Changde Apartments. Eileen Chang lived in Room 601 of this building for about five years. Her witty essay "Notes of a Shanghai Apartment Life" depicts both the joys and sorrows of life in this building.
