Hengfeng Road Bridge, with Shimen No. 2 Road on one end and Hengfeng Road on the other, was newly built in 1987. It is the first bridge over the Suzhou River constructed using the cantilever casting method, and also a successful example in Shanghai’s large-scale bridge construction where pre-stressed connected box girder structures were applied. The construction process was precisely controlled by computer—starting with building both ends before closing the middle section.
