The Shanghai Glasses Museum is located at No. 533 Baochang Road in the Baoshan Community Cultural Activity Center. Established in 2005 and officially opened on June 6, 2006, during the 11th National Eye Care Day, it enables the public to gain a full understanding of glasses—the main tool for correcting human vision—while also uncovering the scientific and cultural context behind them. Additionally, it showcases the history, current state, and future prospects of the eyewear industry both in China and around the world, helping the public protect their eyes more effectively and promoting scientific knowledge about the human eye. It is currently the only community-sponsored, industry-themed museum of its kind. It has been designated as a “Shanghai Science Education Base.”
