Yongquan Lane

Yongquan Lane is a protected cultural heritage site of Shanghai.

Yongquan Lane is located at Lane 395, Yuyuan Road. The entrance of the lane resembles a palace or castle, with the main porch featuring three arches—two Ionic columns in the center and small arched porches on either side. The second floor has pairs of flat windows, while the third floor features arched windows adorned with decorative voussoirs at the top.

The six individual units are modern-style lane residences with yellow-painted exteriors, small arched cornices, and spiral-shaped pilasters between the windows. The first row of two residences, connected by an overhead passageway, are aligned in a straight line, while the other four are arranged in a “field” pattern along the central lane, with each residence consisting of two units. The row-style houses come in single-bay and double-bay layouts, while the semi-detached houses have double-bay and triple-bay designs, each with different interior spatial configurations and varying external profiles. No. 24 at the end of the lane is a standalone four-story garden residence.

Designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site in 1989, it was among the first batch of historically protected buildings.
