The former site of Dadong Bookstore is located at No. 330 and No. 331 North Fujian Road. Dadong Bookstore was one of the renowned printing and publishing institutions in modern times. It was jointly founded in 1916 in Shanghai by Lü Ziquan, Wang You Tang, Shen Junsheng, and Wang Junqing. In 1930, the main factory of Dadong Bookstore moved to No. 2 and No. 3 Beifujian Road (now No. 330 and No. 331 North Fujian Road), housing departments such as the General Affairs Office, Compilation Institute, Printing Workshop, and Warehouse. During the War of Resistance against Japan, the bookstore relocated to Chongqing, and returned to Shanghai in 1946 to continue operations until it was dissolved in 1956, subsequently integrating into the Shanghai Science and Technology Publishing House, Xinhua Bookstore, and Dadong Printing Factory. In addition to printing books, Dadong Bookstore also printed banknotes, postage stamps, revenue stamps, securities, and more, becoming an all-purpose printing facility equipped with lead type, offset, gravure, plate making, and binding workshops. The site originally consisted of two printing plant buildings constructed in 1902 by the Commercial Press, featuring three-story reinforced concrete structures with a total area of approximately 2,300 square meters.
