Song Le Park in Harbin

Song Le Park began preparation and construction in December 2008 and was one of the key landscaping projects in Harbin in 2009, as well as an important public welfare project aimed at improving the living environment for local residents. The park was built on the former site of the Harbin Songjiang Electric Motor Factory, covering an area of 6.1 hectares.

The overall design of the park highlights a planning structure of “one ring, two axes, and three elements.” The “one ring” refers to the park loop formed by primary roads, secondary roads, and scenic pathways that connect all major attractions throughout the park; the “two axes” are two main roads serving as landscape spines radiating across the four functional zones of the park; the “three elements” represent the hours, minutes, and seconds of time, which form the park’s three central landscape features. Through openwork landscape walls, marble intaglios, thematic sculptures, and other horticultural elements, the park showcases the historical development of the old industrial base.

Song Le Park consists of four functional zones: the management area, leisure area, fitness area, and rest area. A total of 357 meters of various types of pathways and 1,149 square meters of paved surfaces have been laid out. The park has newly planted 1,399 trees of 32 species, 1,486 Virginia creepers, transplanted 555 trees, laid 18,353 square meters of turf, planted 2,420.9 square meters of flowers, created 65 square meters of colored grass flower stands, and achieved a green coverage rate of over 70%. The park features a hill volume of 1,240.81 cubic meters, a water area of 852.89 square meters, along with one cascading water feature, four landscape walls, five sets of wood-like benches and tables, five marble intaglios, two windmills, two suspension bridges, and twelve sets of fitness and recreational equipment. Together, they form a comprehensive ecological leisure park that integrates natural ecology and cultural history.
