Grand Renovation at The Far Eastern Taipei: "Super Deluxe Rooms" Are the Secret Weapon

The Shangri-La's Far Eastern, Taipei, has been undergoing a comprehensive renovation plan since October 2013. The first phase of the project, which includes 240 guest rooms and the first-floor lobby, was unveiled today — the largest renovation since the hotel’s opening. Among the highlights, the “Super Deluxe Rooms” and “Premium Business Meeting Rooms” are regarded as secret weapons by the management.

According to the hotel, this renovation project was undertaken by the internationally renowned AB Concept design team, which recently won the 2014 Top Design Giants Awards. This marks the largest renovation since the hotel opened in 1994, with a total investment of NT$1.5 billion. The first phase, completed in October, represents the most significant part of the overhaul. Additional renovations are currently underway, including 180 luxury floor guest rooms, Mandarin Oriental Club rooms, as well as the Tea House and Fragrance Pavilion on the first floor. These are expected to be fully completed early next year.

The focus of the renovation lies in enhancing business functionality, and it also introduces customized services for the first time. The “Premium Business Meeting Rooms” can be flexibly adjusted according to customer needs, while the newly launched “Super Deluxe Rooms” are being hailed as the “secret weapons” of this renovation. The Super Deluxe Rooms offer nearly 18 ping (approximately 594 square feet) of space that combines living, working, and resting functions. They also feature a large walk-in closet connecting the bedroom and a spacious bathroom, providing guests with a comfortable and luxurious accommodation option. The spacious room layout is ideal for business travelers and also popular among family and leisure travelers. The rate per night is NT$15,500.
