Last updated 2026-09-24 — We finally came to pay homage to Lu Ye Shi Guang, which has received high praise online. It’s hard to imagine that hidden in a secluded residential area, there’s such a fresh little brunch-focused café. Even without a signboard, the greenery out front becomes its best advertisement. With limited seating, it’s safer to make a reservation in advance to avoid disappointment. We arrived at the agreed time and became the first group of diners of the day.

We finally came to pay homage to Lu Ye Shi Guang, which has received high praise online.

The popularity of such a minimalist café online is largely due to its interior design. The front porch is fully greened with hanging vines, giving the place a cozy, nature-filled vibe. Sitting here to enjoy breakfast in the morning instantly lifts your mood.

The summer morning sun is quite harsh, and sitting outdoors without air conditioning can be unbearable. Perhaps the experience would be better in winter.

The indoor space isn’t large. Excluding the quarter reserved for the kitchen, the remaining three-quarters is the dining area, which can only accommodate around ten people. The entire shop is run by the owner and his wife, with food prepared to order—so patience is required.

Due to space constraints, there aren’t many decorations. A simple book and magazine rack is provided to pass the time while waiting for your food. There are three seats at the counter, but they’re not very comfortable to sit in because of the tables and chairs in front. The wall-side seat is occupied by a cute teddy bear, who seems to be engrossed in reading a magazine.

Even the menu is clean and refreshing, broadly divided into brunch sets, pancakes, drinks, and coffee. Brunch prices range from NT$159 to NT$189. Both brunch sets and pancakes come with a complimentary cup of black tea, which can be swapped for another drink by paying the price difference.

On the left is black tea (original price NT$20), and we swapped the other black tea for a latte (original price NT$70). We really liked the latte made by the café—it has a rich coffee aroma, less bitterness, and a smoother, creamier taste with fresh milk. It’s also less sugary. Overall, for those who don’t usually drink coffee, the latte is a great entry-level drink. As for the black tea, it doesn’t have the strong, old-fashioned aroma but has a subtle, gentle flavor that’s still quite pleasant.

German Country Baked Egg – NT$179

The beautifully golden baked egg was one of the dishes we waited the longest for. The rustic wooden tray holds the baked egg, salad, and a freshly roasted sweet potato—just looking at it makes you feel healthy.

The key ingredient in this baked egg dish is organic eggs. The eggs are beaten and mixed with some vegetables before baking, so besides the eggy aroma, you also get the texture of vegetables.

The top layer of egg is slightly crispy and caramelized, but inside, some potatoes are mixed in to add more satiety. Since the flavors are quite consistent, eating the whole baked egg by yourself might get a bit monotonous—best to share and swap with friends.

Country Bacon Pork Burger – NT$179

Compared to the baked egg, the pork burger seems a bit more ordinary. It’s mainly a burger paired with crispy fries and scrambled eggs. The portion doesn’t look as big as expected. The fries are crispy and can be dipped in ketchup, while the scrambled eggs are light, refreshing, and not greasy.

The burger bun seems to be the standard type used by chain breakfast shops. It’s filled with pork, bacon, lettuce, onion, cheese, and honey mustard sauce. The flavor isn’t particularly unique and is quite similar to regular burgers sold elsewhere. The burger itself isn’t bad, but at this price point, you can find more distinctive burgers at other brunch spots—this is just our impression.

The shop is only open until 3 PM, and with limited seating, those planning to dine here should plan ahead.

Enjoying a quiet moment in the alleys is a small joy for city dwellers. Perhaps the food here isn’t the best in all of Kaohsiung, but it’s definitely healthy and delicious. This reflects the shop owners’ attitude toward cooking and gives customers peace of mind. What we’re savoring is a lifestyle, a taste of happiness in simplicity. Once again, remember to make a reservation before coming, so a bad start to the day doesn’t ruin your whole mood. Recommended to all.
