The Taipei MRT Songshan Line is expected to open as early as November. Once operational, it will connect with the Xindian Line, but the discontinuation of direct service to Tamsui has left many commuters complaining about the adjustment. To help the public adapt more quickly to the new route, the Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation specially invited a popular internet babe to star in an ad and also commissioned rising singer Yang Xiahei to compose a fresh, catchy, and unforgettable “MRT song,” integrating the route mnemonic into the lyrics. The ad has garnered significant attention from netizens since its release.
After the opening of the Songshan Line, Taipei MRT’s transit network will revert to its original design, linking the Xindian Line with the Songshan Line, while the Tamsui Line will be integrated with the Xinyi Line. However, the direct connection between Xindian and Tamsui will no longer exist, impacting the commuting habits of many MRT riders who have maintained this route for nearly 10 years.

To help the public quickly grasp the new route, the Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation specifically commissioned an advertising agency to produce a promotional video and enlisted the popular online duo “Dears” — made up of Dewi and An Jiexi, who have over 700,000 followers — to star in the ad. Dears said they often take the MRT themselves, so they were thrilled to shoot an ad for the Songshan Line. They also found the song and dance routines adorable. With the Songshan Line now open, more places are accessible via MRT, making life increasingly convenient.
In the ad, Dears lead students from Songshan High School, office workers, elderly people, and children through key attractions along the line such as Raohe Night Market, Taipei Arena, Ximending Red House, and the Beimen historic site. The lyrics “Xiangshan Tamsui, connected straight along the red line” and “Songshan Xindian, back and forth on the green line” have become catchy and easy to remember. Many netizens praised the ad as adorable and said it made them want to hop on the MRT right away.
However, some netizens joked,The Songshan Line doesn’t even pass by Songshan High School, so why feature students from there in the ad? Shouldn’t they have used students from Yu Da Vocational High School instead?Others remarked that although the ad was fun, why did the two female leads wear what looked like tablecloths?
