Shangri-La's Far Eastern International Hotel, Taipei, has undergone years of preparation and planning. Since October last year, it has invested NT$1.5 billion (US$50 million) in a comprehensive renovation plan, with the internationally acclaimed AB Concept design team—which recently won the 2014 Top Design Giants Awards—handling the redesign.

With420guest rooms, Shangri-La's Far Eastern, Taipei, has recently completed the first phase of renovations for240rooms. The next phase will include the refurbishment of180guest rooms and suites, as well as the Executive Lounge, public areas on the first floor such as the driveway, lobby, Tea House, and Fragrance Pavilion. These upgrades are expected to be completed early next year, welcoming guests with a fresh new appearance.

To strengthen its market competitiveness, the hotel has not only enhanced its business facilities but also introduced customizable services—a first among domestic tourist hotels in Taiwan—including flexible adjustments to the “Premium Business Meeting Room” and the launch of a new room type, the “Deluxe Room,” which are the most talked-about highlights of this renovation.

This time, the hotel has meticulously crafted modern guest rooms that blend Chinese and Western elements. It retains the original Chinese Song Dynasty artistic elegance and timeless classic design, exuding a calm and reserved atmosphere with a rich cultural and artistic vibe. Each room features high ceilings over three meters, with large floor-to-ceiling windows that allow abundant natural light in. Taipei’s iconic landmarks, such as101the Taipei Financial Center, along with the bustling urban scenery, transform with the play of daylight and night, offering guests breathtaking, unobstructed views. Thoughtfully placed collectible artworks, contemporary audiovisual entertainment equipment, and high-quality, carefully selected furniture in warm, bright tones provide guests with a cozy, home-like experience.
Another highlight of the renovation is the addition of a new room type between standard rooms and suites—the “Deluxe Room.” This thoughtfully designed space combines living, working, and resting functions, along with an oversized walk-in closet connecting the bedroom and spacious bathroom, offering guests a more comfortable and luxurious room choice. The spacious layout is ideal not only for business travelers but also popular among families and those traveling with children.
