Xiaolaha Site

The Xiaolaha Site is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Xiaolaha Site is located in Dongyishun Village, Yishun Township, Zhaoyuan County, Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, and is a Neolithic cultural site. Research indicates that the Xiaolaha Site dates back 6,500 years, making it the earliest known area of human activity in Heilongjiang Province. Archaeological excavations in 1992 unearthed a large number of Neolithic artifacts such as bone fishing hooks, pottery net sinkers, clam sickles, stone shovels, stone axes, and jade objects. The site is situated on an elevated earthen ridge that resembles a dragon’s spine, stretching 500 meters from east to west and extending about 300 meters south to the Xiaolaha Village, with the vast Laha Pao Lake to the north.

The Xiaolaha Site is the type site for the Xiaolaha Culture. Its discovery marked the first presentation in the Songnen Plain of a tripartite cultural stratigraphy spanning the Neolithic Age, the Bronze Age, and the early Iron Age. The cultural content of the site provides valuable material for the integrated study of the Ang’angxi Culture, Xiaolaha Culture, and Baijinbao Culture systems on the Songnen Plain, and holds significant scientific value for research into ancient ethnic relations, economic development, and cultural progression in this region.

In 2013, it was designated as part of the seventh group of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units by the State Council.
