Qinqian Azalea Scenic Area

Qinqian Azalea Scenic Area is located in the central part of Xianweng Mountain Scenic Area and is a roughly 200-meter-long mountain ridge extending eastward. From east to west, there are five scenic spots: "Monkey Who Forgot Its Hometown," "Azalea Peak," "Tiger Jump Peak," and "Lovers' Peak." The highest point in the scenic area is 390 meters above sea level. Standing on Azalea Peak and looking north, you can see Xianweng Peak, Wild Wolf Valley, and Forget-Worry Cliff across the way; to the south, you can see the highest point of Shigong Sacred Land — "Fairy and Buddha at the Summit" — and the highest point of Valley of Heavenly Sounds — "Jade Palm Peak."

About 200 meters south along the stone steps from "Laoying" lies the center of Azalea Ridge. Walking 40 meters eastward along the ridgeline, you’ll find a protruding stone ridge about 1 meter high and approximately 35 meters long, stretching like a dragon crawling over the mountain ridge — this is the Azure Dragon’s Back. Legend has it that this was once a python demon from the Green Pool, defeated by the Immortal Elder, who transformed into this stone form. Not far past the Azure Dragon’s Back, there is a stone monkey sitting on the edge of a cliff. Some say it is the "Monkey Who Forgot Its Hometown," so captivated by the beauty of Xianweng Mountain that it forgot to return home; others believe it is a celestial monkey sent to guard the Demon-Suppressing Stone. Upon closer inspection, visitors may notice a human-sized stone beneath the monkey, said to be a type of mountain ghost called a "Xiao." Moving right from the center are "Azalea Peak," "Tiger Jump Peak," and "Lovers' Peak" in sequence.

Azalea Peak is covered with lush Xinjiang azaleas, which bloom in vibrant clusters every spring. Lovers' Peak consists of two mountains standing side by side next to Azalea Peak, one taller than the other, leaning close together. At about 1 meter below their summits, a horizontal stone connects the two peaks, resembling a couple kissing intimately — hence the affectionate name "Lovers' Peak." Legend says this was once a kind-hearted couple who sacrificed themselves to save their fellow villagers by revealing heavenly secrets, and were transformed into stone. In life they loved each other deeply, and in death they became an eternal bond. Visitors often marvel at the romantic tales tied to the azaleas. The name "Qinqian Azalea" (Emotion-Dyed Azaleas) originates from this story.
