Crescent Lake Park

Crescent Lake Park is located at the foot of Beishan Mountain in the center of Nancha District, Yichun City. The entire lake surface is crescent-shaped, hence the name "Crescent Lake." The park covers an area of approximately 37,000 square meters, including a water area of 12,000 square meters and a plaza and mountainous area of 25,000 square meters. A reinforced concrete zigzag bridge spans the lake surface and leads all the way to the foot of the mountain, featuring three pavilions where visitors can stop and rest. On the cliff by the curve of the lake are four large characters, “Moon Over Lake Scenery,” inscribed by Chen Lei, former Governor of Heilongjiang Province. There is a plaza by the lake that can accommodate up to a thousand people. Beneath the cliff stands an antique-style building, and halfway up the mountain behind it is a mushroom-shaped pavilion where visitors can rest and chess players can play. Walking up the steep mountain steps, flanked by lush man-made forests, you reach the summit’s Moon-Viewing Pavilion, where the whole of Nancha District unfolds before your eyes. In the distance, the Yongcui River winds gracefully like a jade ribbon, and the mountain city, dotted with high-rises, sits within a highland basin. Beneath your feet, the crescent-shaped lake mirrors like glass, with skyscrapers on the south bank and mountain peaks on the north reflected in picturesque detail. In winter, the entire lake becomes a beautiful piece of jade set here, and athletes speed across the natural ice rink. China’s renowned speed skaters Cao Guifeng, Feng Qingbo, and Guan Chengxue started their journeys from this place — stepping out of the forest and onto the world stage.
