Introduction: Wanwan Chuan Tourist Resort is located at the southern foot of the Changbai Mountains, between Dongchang District of Tonghua City and Kuaimamao Town of Tonghua County. It sits at the junction of the county and city, in the middle reaches of the Hun River, just 5 kilometers from the urban area, serving as the western gateway to the Changbai Mountain region. Historical records and unearthed artifacts confirm that humans inhabited this area since ancient times. During the Qing Dynasty under Emperor Shunzhi, when the capital was established in Yanjing (Beijing), the Changbai Mountain area was regarded as the ancestral birthplace and designated as a forbidden zone. At that time, Wanwan Chuan was the strategic throat leading in and out of the Changbai Mountains. Military posts were set up to patrol the borders, and without an official pass issued by the government, entry into the mountains for gathering, hunting, logging, or grazing was strictly prohibited. As a result, for a long time, this area has integrated mountains, water, forests, and fields, featuring prominent natural landscapes that give visitors a feeling of returning to nature.

Here, undulating mountain ranges rise steeply, rugged, majestic, and lush with greenery. The main peak, Tongnan Mountain, stands over 830 meters above sea level, while the secondary peak, Chiyuding, rises to more than 750 meters, like two celestial guardians watching over the beautiful and rugged Wanwan Chuan. A tributary of the Yalu River — the Hun River — meanders gracefully, resembling a blue silk ribbon cast down by a fairy, draped among the overlapping mountains, rippling with the wind, shimmering with emerald waves. The four seasons bring distinct changes, creating a grand scroll of traditional Chinese painting. The renowned “Ginseng Road” begins here, where generations of ginseng hunters have passed through, devoutly burning incense and praying at the grave of the Old Ginseng Hunter for a safe and fruitful journey into the mountains. Ancient and magical legends are widely told among the people, adding an air of mystery to the place. Along the banks of the Hun River and the Gegu River, fertile fields stretch out as far as the eye can see, crisscrossed with paths, dotted with villages, and home to herds of cattle and sheep. “When the wind blows, flowers dance on their own; when spring arrives, birds sing by themselves.” It offers not only mountain and water scenery but also pastoral charm. Built upon this picturesque land, the tourist resort centers around natural landscapes, equipped with modern recreational and service facilities.
