Laoling

Laoling, approximately 200 kilometers long, serves as the watershed between the Yalu River, the Hun River, and the Toutiao Songhua River. It runs in a north-south direction with distinct mountain ridges, sharp crests, and steep slopes. Part of the Changbai Mountain range, it is a southern branch of the western Changbai Mountains. Stretching from Fusong County in Jilin Province in the north to the southeastern part of Huanren County in Liaoning Province in the south, it acts as a natural barrier for the border city of Ji’an between China and North Korea. The southwestern part features mostly hills, while the northeastern area consists of low mountains covered with basalt. The main peak, Laoling Peak, stands at an elevation of 1,589 meters.
