The Daquan Yuan Liquor Industry Historical and Cultural Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Jilin Province Daquan Yuan Liquor Co., Ltd. is located in Tonghua City, Jilin Province. The factory covers an area of 52,000 square meters, with a building area of 32,000 square meters, and has the production capacity to manufacture over 10,000 tons of high-quality pure grain liquor (65°).

Daquan Yuan Liquor Industry was founded in 1616 AD during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, and has continued through the Ming, Qing, and Republic of China eras to the present day. Over nearly 400 years, Daquan Yuan Liquor has accumulated a profound and rich historical culture. Nurhaci, the founding emperor of the Qing Dynasty, visited the Daquan Yuan distillery during his military campaigns to unify the Jurchen tribes and designated it as his “Imperial Distillery.” Four emperors of the Qing Dynasty—Kangxi, Qianlong, Jiaqing, and Daoguang—all requisitioned Daquan Yuan Liquor for imperial use during their eastern tours to ancestral tombs. In the tenth year of the Guangxu reign, the imperial distillery was expanded into the Baoquan Yong Distillery. During the Republic of China period, “King of the Northeast” Zhang Zuolin, and Yang Jingyu, the national hero of the Anti-Japanese War, both regarded Daquan Yuan Liquor as a national treasure, praising it as the “Wine of the Eastern Frontier.” These emperors, generals, and legendary figures all formed unique bonds with Daquan Yuan Liquor, leaving behind vivid legends and historical tales.

After Japan’s surrender in 1945, the People’s Liberation Army’s Yellow River Unit took over the distillery. In 1949, the distillery was renamed Tonghua County Xingyuan Liquor Factory, becoming the first state-owned enterprise in Tonghua County. In 1962, it was renamed the State-Owned Jilin Province Tonghua County Daquan Yuan Liquor Factory. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, national leaders such as Dong Biwu, Deng Xiaoping, and Jiang Zemin visited Tonghua on work inspections, tasted Daquan Yuan Liquor, and spoke highly of it.

For over ten generations, Daquan Yuan Liquor has been passed down with unwavering commitment to traditional brewing techniques: using ancient well mineral water, pure grain ingredients, solid-state fermentation, and liquor sea storage. It is the only liquor in China aged in heritage-listed wooden liquor seas, making it an original ecological pure grain liquor. Features of Daquan Yuan Liquor Products

Premium Water Source. Water is the foundation of the distillery. The water used to brew Daquan Yuan Baijiu comes from the ancient well (deep well) of Daquan Yuan, known as the “No.1 Spring of the Eastern Frontier.” Certified by the former Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources of China, it is a natural high-quality bicarbonate calcium-magnesium mineral water rich in beneficial trace elements such as radon, strontium, zinc, and metasilicic acid. For over 100 years, Daquan Yuan Liquor has gained worldwide fame thanks to this unique and premium mineral water resource.

Carefully Selected Ingredients. Daquan Yuan Liquor is entirely brewed from high-quality large red sorghum. The sorghum is carefully selected from regions such as Baicheng on the Northeastern Plain and Southern Liaoning—chosen for its full grains, bright color, and pure texture—to ensure product quality.

Traditional Techniques. The distillery adheres to traditional solid-state fermentation methods: after crushing the sorghum, mother starter is added and fermented in pits for a specified duration before being distilled into pure grain baijiu.

Liquor Sea Storage. The wooden liquor sea collection of Daquan Yuan Liquor Industry is the largest in number, best preserved, and highest in utilization rate nationwide. It is a vital component of traditional liquor-making and has been identified as a cultural relic. Daquan Yuan Liquor Industry is the only producer in China to store liquor in heritage-listed wooden liquor seas. Storing the base liquor in wooden liquor seas results in a richer, more mellow liquor with a fragrant aroma, smoother taste, and longer-lasting aftertaste.
