Tomb of Revolutionary Martyr Jiang Naisheng

The Tomb of Revolutionary Martyr Jiang Naisheng is located at the foot of Longtou Mountain, one li west of Xijiang Village, the seat of Jiangdian Town, Tonghua County. It covers an area of 30 square meters, with a protected area of the same size, and features a memorial stele in front of the grave.

In the spring of 1946, following the directive of the Northeast Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee to "mobilize and organize the masses to carry out struggles against traitors, settle accounts, and reduce rent and interest," the CPC Tonghua County Committee acted swiftly. It organized work teams at both the county and district levels to go deep into villages and settlements to mobilize the masses, expose and denounce the crimes of traitors, landlords, despots, and unscrupulous merchants, and severely punish the most egregious offenders. Upon arriving at what is now Xijiang Village, Jiangdian Town, Tonghua County, the work teams helped organize and mobilize the local people to establish the "Xijiang Peasants' Liberation Association." Jiang Naisheng, a poor peasant, was elected as the head of the association. Jiang Naisheng was born in 1909 in Changyi County, Shandong Province. At the age of 18, he fled to the northeast in search of a livelihood and suffered greatly under the oppression and exploitation of landlords. He led the masses in direct confrontations and settlement struggles with the landlords, cracking down harshly on those who resorted to intrigue. The landlords of Xijiang Village harbored deep hatred for him and conspired to kill him. On the evening of the 30th day of the fourth lunar month that year, landlords Yao Guanghui and Bai Huiwu instructed Yao Guanghui’s son, a Kuomintang member named Yao Dexin, to go to Caiyuanzi Village in Jichuan County (now Caiyuan Town, Ji’an City), across the river, to collude with an armed security team. They then raided Xijiangdianzi Village, captured Jiang Naisheng, and took him to the home of landlord Bai Huiwu. There, they tried to force him to return rents and interest payments. Jiang Naisheng, known for his stubbornness, uprightness, and years of suffering under exploitation, stood firm and unyielding. Enraged by his defiance, the landlords and security team savagely beat him. The next day, landlords Bai Huiwu, Yao Guanghui, and others took fatal action against Jiang Naisheng. The security team dragged him to the banks of the Hun River, tied a large rock to his back, and pushed him into the river. Jiang Naisheng managed to break free from the rock in the water and swam to the opposite bank, but due to severe injuries, he collapsed in the woods, unable to move. Yao Dexin, the son of Yao Guanghui, spotted him and then ordered security members Bai Fengyi and Jiang Xu to swim across the river and shoot Jiang Naisheng to death. The martyr was 38 years old at the time.
