Remnants of the Anti-Japanese Allied Forces' Secret Camp in Shihu Town

The remnants of the Anti-Japanese Allied Forces' secret camp in Shihu Town are located in the mountain valleys of Laoling Village and Yong’an Village in the southern part of Shihu Town, Tonghua County, approximately 25 kilometers from Gongyi Village, where the town government is situated. The site is now covered by a forest.

The famous surprise attack on the Laoling Tunnel construction project on March 13, 1938, shocked the entire East Border Region and greatly boosted the morale of our anti-Japanese military and civilians. While carrying out sabotage operations, Yang Jingyu, taking advantage of the dense forests and high mountains of the Laoling area—ideal for guerrilla warfare—dispatched troops to mobilize local residents extensively. Using the Laoling Mountains as cover, they attacked Japanese puppet police stations, dismantled “collective villages,” and quickly established the Laoling Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Base centered around Jidong Dacha. The deep mountain valleys of Laoling Village and Yong’an Village in Shihu Town, Tonghua County, were once part of this base. Secret camp remnants have been discovered in both the Daxicai Valley of Laoling Village and the Danancha Valley of Yong’an Village.

Formed in 1938 and utilized in 1983. Since its discovery, no funding has been allocated for the site’s repair or preservation, and it has since been damaged. (Provided by the Party School of the Tonghua County Committee of the CPC)
