Tomb of Revolutionary Martyr Bai Jingzhai

The Tomb of Revolutionary Martyr Bai Jingzhai is located on the hillside behind the primary school in Xiaolongtou Village, southern Kuaidamao Town, Tonghua County, about 1 kilometer from the village. It covers an area of 50 square meters, with a protected area of the same size. It was renovated in 1992. A monument stands in front of the tomb.

In the summer of 1946, following the directive of the Northeast Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee to “mobilize and organize the masses to carry out struggles against traitors, settle accounts, and reduce rent and interest,” the Kuaidamaozi District Committee of the Chinese Communist Party in Tonghua County dispatched a comrade named Bai Jingzhai to carry out work in Xiaolongtou Village. On a day during the Mid-Autumn Festival, Cui Mingru, the leader of a bandit gang from Toutaoawaizi in Ji’an County, led dozens of bandits in a surprise attack on Xiaolongtou Village. Upon receiving the news, Comrade Bai Jingzhai immediately organized local militiamen to encircle and suppress the bandits. At that time, the number of militiamen was small, and they only had a few homemade firearms, putting them at a disadvantage overall. As a result, they were outnumbered, and both Bai Jingzhai and the militia platoon leader Hu Hengjin unfortunately sacrificed their lives in battle after being shot. Upon learning of the bandit attack on Xiaolongtou Village, the Kuaidamaozi District Committee immediately dispatched the district squad to provide reinforcements, causing the bandits to flee at the sight. After the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Kuaidamaozi District Committee held a memorial service for the two martyrs in Xiaolongtou Village. In 1947, during the land reform, the extremely vicious bandit leader Cui Mingru was executed.

Constructed in July 1946 and put into use in the autumn of 1949. In 1992, the Young Pioneers of the central school in Daduling Township, Tonghua County (merged into Kuaidamao Town in the autumn of 2005 during institutional reforms), reburied the remains of Martyr Bai Jingzhai on the hillside behind the school in Xiaolongtou Village.
