Xingxingchao Site is situated on the hilltop of Zhangjiagou on the eastern shore of Xingxingchao Reservoir, 6 kilometers north of Chalu Town and 12 kilometers south of Dagangzi Commune. In 1974 and 1976, two separate excavations were carried out on 37 exposed stone coffins along the reservoir bank. These coffins were distributed across four burial areas within a span of about 1,500 meters, which have been designated as Areas A, B, C, and D. The total area of these four sections is approximately 2,500 square meters. The excavations yielded a large number of pottery items, stone tools, and a very small number of bronze artifacts. The discovery of these relics has provided scientifically valuable material for further research into the economic life, social structure, and ideological aspects of the clan communes during the Xituanshan Culture period.
