Baicheng Martyrs' Cemetery is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

Baicheng Martyrs' Cemetery is located 3 kilometers from the city center on the Changbai Highway, south of the Flood Control Memorial Tower. Covering an area of 69,000 square meters with a built-up area of 35,000 square meters and a total investment of 10 million yuan, it is an open, garden-style complex that serves multiple functions including education and recreation. The predecessor of Baicheng Martyrs' Cemetery was the "Liaobei Martyrs' Cemetery," which was organized and established by the Liaji Provincial Committee and the Liaobei Provincial Government. In the western part of the cemetery stands a grenade-shaped memorial monument with a wooden handle, inscribed with messages from comrades such as Yan Baohang, Chairman of the Provincial Government, Tao Zhu, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Deng Hua, Commander of the Provincial Military District. To the east of the monument lies a forest of tombstones commemorating the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the revolution. With lush trees and an elegant atmosphere, it has become an important site for the public to pay respects, honor the martyrs, and receive education on revolutionary traditions and patriotism. In 1999, the municipal government decided to rebuild the cemetery at a new location in accordance with the overall urban and rural construction plan. On October 25, 2001, the new Baicheng Martyrs' Cemetery was officially completed. After years of dedicated construction, it has developed into a patriotic education base featuring key commemorative structures such as the Hero City Monument, the horizontal sarcophagus tomb group, and the Unknown Heroes Monument. The Revolutionary Martyrs Exhibition Hall, serving as a patriotic education exhibition area, houses precious historical materials including artifacts, photographs, and texts. It highlights the indomitable and heroic spirit of the military and civilians in the Baicheng region during the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Liberation War, and the Korean War under the leadership of the Party, as well as the sacrificial dedication of martyrs during the socialist construction period for the nation's development. These exhibits present a magnificent historical panorama, deeply rooting the spirit of patriotism at the core of national identity in everyone's heart. Baicheng Martyrs' Cemetery, guided by the principle of "honoring the martyrs and educating future generations," has been scientifically planned, continuously innovated, and diligently operated. It has strived to optimize the educational environment, innovate content and forms, enhance its outreach impact, and improve service standards. As a result, its role as a patriotic education platform and forge has become increasingly prominent. The cemetery has been successively honored as the "Jilin Provincial Patriotic Education Base," "Jilin Provincial National Defense Education Base," "Jilin Provincial Young Pioneers Experiential Education Base," "Baicheng Juvenile Ideological and Moral Education Demonstration Base," and "Taobei District Revolutionary Tradition Education Base." In 2009, the Jihelingyuan in Baicheng was also designated as a National Patriotic Education Base.
