The Former Site of the Liaobei Provincial Government Office: During the Liberation War period, after Japan’s surrender on August 15, 1945, various party, government, and military institutions including the Communist Party's Liaobei Provincial Government were successively established in the region bordering present-day Liaoning, Jilin, and Inner Mongolia, leading the local ethnic groups in a head-on struggle against the reactionary forces of the Kuomintang. The former site of the Liaobei Provincial Government Office is located at the southeast corner of the current Baicheng Military Sub-district compound. It was originally a two-story red brick building, which has since been demolished.
