Yunteng Square

Yunteng Square is built on the former site of the Eighth Middle School. The square covers an area of 21,000 square meters, with an investment of 5.4 million yuan. The green space of the square amounts to 8,000 square meters, and the paved area covers 13,000 square meters. The construction of the square aims to create a comprehensive, multifunctional venue for leisure, sightseeing, fitness, and performance activities. The main structure of the square has now been completed.

The construction of the square commenced in August 2010 and was completed in 69 days. The square is divided into four functional areas: the southwest section is the sightseeing and landscaping zone, where over 766 trees of more than 20 species, including Acer pictum and Quercus mongolica, have been planted, along with 5,000 square meters of lawn; the northwest section is the leisure area, featuring a tricolor landscape tensile membrane structure; the northeast section is the leisure and fitness area, equipped with 28 sets of fitness equipment; the southeast section is the large-scale performance area, which includes 120 linear meters of stone-step seating and 112 leisure chairs. At the center of the square stands a landmark sculpture—Five Dragons Soaring. This abstract sculpture uses the dragon as its creative motif, ingeniously interweaving five dragons to symbolize unity and solidarity. It metaphorically represents Qian'an County keeping pace with the times, promoting a spirit of progress, and bringing benefits to its people. The square also features two additional tensile membrane structures, 128 landscape lights, eight high-fidelity stereo speaker systems, and one fish-shaped boulder.

The completion of the square has been widely embraced and praised by local residents. Every day, hundreds or even thousands of citizens visit to relax and enjoy recreational activities. It fills a long-standing gap in the county by providing a large-scale performance venue, bringing tangible benefits to the community. More importantly, it reflects the tremendous changes in the lives of Qian'an’s 300,000 residents under the leadership of the county Party committee and government. People are living in a stable and harmonious social environment, enjoying the concrete fruits of scientific development and striving for excellence. Their lives are steadily advancing toward a moderately prosperous standard. The name “Yunteng” (Cloud Soaring) embodies the aspirations of all residents, praying for the blessings of heaven—year after year of favorable weather, abundant harvests, rapid development for Qian'an, and continuous advancement. With the completion of the Hadashan Water Conservancy Project, Qian'an will transform into a land of fish and rice, where people live happily and healthily, achieving sustainable social and ecological development and overall harmony.
