Jingfang Mingzhu Square

Covering an area of 21,000 square meters and with an investment of 4.9 million yuan, Jingfang Mingzhu Square in Qian'an County began construction on August 20, 2009, and was completed by the end of October. The hardened area of the square is 14,000 square meters, and the green space covers 7,000 square meters. The square is equipped with 18 sets of fitness equipment, two wooden pergolas, one landscape tensile membrane structure, a white steel sculpture themed “Harmony between Man and Nature,” three main pillars symbolizing the three major pillars of Qian'an’s economy — the rapid rise of industry, agriculture, and the tertiary sector. The three white steel pillars embrace a 1.2-meter-diameter white steel ball. Centered around this ball, four 6-meter-long white steel ribbons extend from the front and back of each pillar in an embracing shape, symbolizing the unity and determination of Qian'an’s 300,000 residents to work together, welcome guests from all directions, attract investment to Qian'an, and join hands in practicing scientific development. Their firm belief and strong resolve are to strive diligently for Qian'an's economic takeoff, to build a prosperous and harmonious new Qian'an. The square also features various landscape lights, spotlights, lawn lamps (60 in total), and a stereo sound system.

The design concept of the square reflects the character of Qian'an, is people-oriented, and fully meets the needs of local citizens for leisure, fitness, entertainment, and recreation. The project was constructed using a bidding process to ensure the highest quality. In early November 2009, Jingfang Mingzhu Square was officially opened to the public of Qian'an City. A beautiful, magnificent, and culturally rich square has now illuminated the city.

Since its completion and opening, the square has attracted nearly ten thousand visitors every day, both in the early morning and evening, who come here to relax and exercise. They freely sing and dance within the square. They have greatly praised this people-benefiting project initiated by the county party committee and government, happily remarking: “Now we have a place to go in our spare time.” This is indeed a concrete manifestation of the county party committee and government’s practice of the Scientific Outlook on Development.
