The site is located on the western hillside of Shiren Valley Village, Longcheng Township, Helong City. From August 20 to September 10, 2005, the Frontier Archaeology Research Institute of Jilin University carried out trial excavations at the Shiren Valley Paleolithic site. The work primarily involved scientifically surveying the main terrain and landforms of the Shiren Valley Paleolithic site and its surroundings, collecting soil and volcanic ash samples, preliminarily defining the current scope of the site, establishing permanent coordinate benchmarks, and laying the foundation for future work. During the 20-day period, the excavation team from the Frontier Archaeology Research Institute of Jilin University conducted trial excavations at five locations within the Shiren Valley Paleolithic site, covering an area of 50 square meters, and unearthed over 1,500 obsidian artifacts from the Stone Age.

The Shiren Valley Site, located in Shiren Valley Village, Longcheng Town, Helong City, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin Province, is an ancient human site from the Paleolithic Age. It was discovered in 2004, and in 2005, archaeological excavations covered an area of 52 square meters, yielding 1,291 items including stone cores, flakes, blades, microblades, fragments, scrapers, and burins. In May 2013, it was designated as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units by the State Council.

Longcheng Town: Longcheng Town is situated at the eastern foot of the Changbai Mountains, in the central-western part of Helong City, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin Province, on the upper reaches of the Hailan River and the drainage basin of the Hongqi River, a tributary of the Tumen River. It is 1,737 km from Beijing, 500 km from Changchun, 841 km from Shenyang, 1,238 km from Dalian, 75 km from Yanji, 186 km from Hunchun, 200 km from Chongjin Port in North Korea, and 192 km from Changbai Mountain. The town covers a total area of 1,614 square kilometers, accounting for about one-third of the city's total area.
