Yanbian Martyrs' Cemetery

The Yanbian Martyrs' Cemetery is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

The Yanbian Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery is located on the western hill northwest of Yanji City, to the west of the Yanji River and north of People's Park. In February 1992, after research by the Yanbian Prefectural Committee and Prefectural Government and approval from the Provincial Committee and Provincial Government, it was expanded and renovated on the foundation of the Yanji Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on April 24, 1992, and the main construction work was largely completed by November 30. With a total investment of 16.99 million yuan, the cemetery covers an area of 36,294 square meters and has a built-up area of 6,165 square meters. Structures within the park include a memorial archway, the Revolutionary Martyrs Monument, large-scale sculptures, the Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall, the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery area, and the Revolutionary Cadres Columbarium. The entire architectural complex is meticulously structured, grand in scale, and harmoniously arranged, fully showcasing ethnic characteristics. Since 1995, the Yanbian Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery has been designated as a “National Key Protected Memorial Building” by the State Council; a “National Patriotic Education Demonstration Base” by the Publicity Department of the Central Committee; a “Patriotic Education Base” by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, Jilin Province, Yanbian Prefecture, and Yanji City; a “National Unity and Progress Education Base” by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission; a “Jilin Provincial CPC History Education Base” by the Jilin Provincial Committee; a “Jilin Provincial Youth Education Base” by the Publicity Department of the Jilin Provincial Committee and the Communist Youth League Jilin Provincial Committee; a “Jilin Provincial Ideological and Moral Education Demonstration Base for Minors” by the Jilin Provincial Spiritual Civilization Construction Steering Committee; a “Yanbian Prefecture CPC History Education Base” by the Yanbian Prefectural Committee; a “Yanji Municipal CPC History Education Base” by the Yanji Municipal Committee; a “Seventh Batch Provincial Model Unit for Government Archives Work” by the Jilin Provincial Archives Bureau; a “2009 Model Unit for Professional Conduct Construction” by the Jilin Provincial Department of Civil Affairs; and a “15th Yanji Municipal Model Collective for National Unity and Progress Education” by the Yanji Municipal Committee. It has also received numerous other honors.
