The Bulhatong River Water Conservancy Scenic Area

The Bulhatong River Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Yanji Bulhatong River Water Conservancy Scenic Area is located in Yanji City, Jilin Province, and is a national water conservancy scenic area. The scenic area consists of amenities such as a 2,560-meter-long waterside platform, as well as gardens, green belts, water surfaces, and shoals. It is a comprehensive water conservancy scenic area integrating multiple functions such as green ecology, urban beautification, entertainment and leisure, and tourism sightseeing.

After being rated as a provincial-level water conservancy scenic area in 2007, the Bulhatong River in Yanji City has recently earned another honor. Thanks to its superior natural scenery and distinctive cultural landscapes, it has been included in the eighth batch of national water conservancy scenic areas by the Water Conservancy Scenic Area Evaluation Committee of the Ministry of Water Resources. It is currently the only national-level water conservancy scenic area in our prefecture.

The Bulhatong River Water Conservancy Scenic Area runs through the entire urban area of Yanji. It is an urban river-lake type water conservancy scenic area developed from water conservancy projects on the Bulhatong River of the Tumen River system and its tributary, the Yanji River. The project was initiated in 1996, construction began in 1997, and it was officially completed in 2008 with a total investment of 310 million yuan. It covers an area of 7.32 square kilometers and involved a total comprehensive engineering volume of 9 million cubic meters. The scenic area comprises flood control landscape works stretching 18.2 kilometers, four river dams, 20 ecological dams, a 2,560-meter-long waterside platform, as well as gardens, green belts, water surfaces, and shoals. It is a comprehensive water conservancy scenic area integrating multiple functions such as green ecology, urban beautification, entertainment and leisure, and tourism sightseeing, fully embodying the concept of “harmonious coexistence between people and water, and ecological harmony.”
