Shenyang Magic Slope

Shenyang Magic Slope is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Located at the western foot of Mao Mountain in Qingshuitai Town, Shenbei New District, Shenyang City, the Magic Slope faces the open wilderness and is backed by rolling hills. It lies 1.32 kilometers west of National Highway 102, which runs from north to south, and 30 kilometers east of Fushun, the coal capital.

The Magic Slope is 80 meters long and about 15 meters wide, descending from west to east. It was discovered in April 1990. At that time, a young traffic police officer was driving a Beijing-brand jeep down the mountain road into the slope. After shifting to neutral and turning off the engine, he suddenly felt the vehicle sliding uphill on its own. Astonished, he and his companions summoned the courage to try it several more times, but the same thing happened. Puzzled and bewildered, they left without finding an explanation.

The emergence of the Magic Slope added an air of mystery. Experts, celebrities, and scholars flocked here to investigate and uncover the secrets. Some claimed it was due to magnetic fields, others suggested gravitational displacement, and still others pointed to optical illusions. However, these theories contradicted one another and failed to provide a satisfactory explanation. Since its discovery, continuous development and construction have transformed the site into a scenic area with a unified layout. It features a harmonious blend of mountains and water, dynamic and static elements, as well as both natural and man-made attractions, each with its own unique charm. There are over 20 scenic spots in total. Following the discovery of the Magic Slope mystery, people also found the "Singing Mountain" and the "Buzzing Peak," which together with the Magic Slope are referred to as the "Three Mysteries."

In 2009, Shenyang Magic Slope was honored by the China World Records Association as the World’s Number One Magic Slope, becoming a global wonder of its kind.
