——Healthy China The "2016 China Health Management and Promotion Conference" to be Held in Qingdao

In October 2016, the State Council issued the "Healthy China 2030" Outline, providing a guiding framework and plan for the Healthy China strategy. But how can the Healthy China strategy be realized? Through years of exploration, research institutions and health enterprises have been experimenting with models and have achieved numerous innovative approaches and products. These innovative models and products will be showcased collectively at the "Healthy China 2016 China Health Management and Promotion Conference" to be held in Qingdao in December. This was revealed at a recent press conference for the "Healthy China 2016 China Health Management and Promotion Conference."

According to Zhou Bangyong, Vice President of the China Health Care Association, in November 2016, the ninth Global Conference on Health Promotion, jointly organized by the World Health Organization and China's National Health and Family Planning Commission, was held in Shanghai, with Premier Li Keqiang attending the opening ceremony and delivering a speech. In response to the call of the ninth Global Conference on Health Promotion in Shanghai and to implement the "Healthy China 2030" Outline, the China Health Care Association, together with the People's Government of Huangdao District, Qingdao, will co-host the "Healthy China 2016 China Health Management and Promotion Conference" in Huangdao District, Qingdao, from December 26–27, 2016.

On December 5, 2016, the conference press conference was held in Qingdao. According to the announcement, the "Healthy China 2016 China Health Management and Promotion Conference" will focus on the theme of "Promoting Health, Building Prosperity," and will invite authoritative experts and corporate executives to discuss current situations, future trends, and policy responses in China's health management and promotion—issues of common concern.

The "Healthy China 2016 China Health Management and Promotion Conference" is committed to promoting sound development in China’s health management and promotion sector, exploring new models, methods, and business forms that fit China’s national conditions, facilitating the integrated development of health management and service systems with medical service systems, guiding industrial R&D directions and accurately meeting market demand, and advancing supply-side reform in the health industry.

According to Zhou Bangyong, during the conference, leaders from various national departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as the WHO representative in China, and authoritative experts including several academicians, will attend. At that time, major domestic media outlets such as CCTV, People's Daily Online, and Xinhua News Agency will also provide key coverage of the event. Additionally, the conference will host the "2016 China Tourism and Health Development Forum," which will invite relevant government departments, authoritative experts and scholars, as well as pioneering enterprises in the exploration and development of health tourism, to exchange views and explore hot topics such as "vigorously developing health tourism, innovatively establishing tourism wellness bases; promoting the integrated development of tourism and health, and supporting Healthy China 2030."

Dr. Hao Xiaoning from the Development Research Center of the National Health and Family Planning Commission introduced the joint research project on "Health Management and Promotion: Theory and Practice" conducted by her center and the China Health Care Association. She pointed out that the "Health Management and Promotion – Theory and Practice" project systematically reviews relevant theories and developmental histories of health management and promotion on an international level, innovatively proposes an integrated concept of health management and promotion, and calls on individuals, groups, and even society as a whole to maximally participate in overcoming unhealthy behaviors, optimizing lifestyles, improving environments, and implementing reasonable health interventions, thereby controlling various risk factors affecting health, and achieving enhanced physical and mental health as well as improved adaptability in life. Vigorously advancing health management and promotion is of great significance for improving national health literacy, enhancing national health quality, and protecting and fostering productivity.

According to reports, the conference venue, Qingdao West Coast New Area, is the ninth national-level new area approved by the state. It is located between the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei metropolitan region and the Yangtze River Delta, serving as a main maritime gateway along the Yellow River basin and an important eastern terminus of the Eurasian Continental Bridge. The tourism industry has always been a leading sector in the West Coast New Area. With the release of the Healthy China 2030 Outline, the strategic focus of the new area has further shifted to the health tourism industry. As the permanent host location for the China Health Management and Promotion Conference, it is hoped that through continuous development, the conference will become the “Boao Forum” of health. In the future, as the tourism and health industries continue to expand and mature, Qingdao West Coast New Area will gain strong momentum for economic growth and establish itself as one of China’s premier health tourism destinations and wellness bases.

Zhou Jianhua, General Manager of Qingdao Zangma Mountain International Tourism Resort, told reporters that Zangma Mountain International Tourism Resort, located at the southern foot of Zangma Mountain in Qingdao’s West Coast New Area, focuses on health and wellness culture and leisure tourism, and has become a provincial-level rural tourism resort, a new landmark for international wellness and retirement tourism, and a distinctive Chinese tourism town. Hosting events such as the China Health Management and Promotion Conference and the China Health and Tourism Industry Development Forum in Zangma Mountain will greatly contribute to building the area into a health-themed characteristic town.
