The Shenyang Seven Star Mountain Tourist Scenic Area is situated in Shifosi Township, Shenbei New District, Shenyang City. Backed by the Liao River and bordering Shenyang to the south, the Shenming Highway runs through the area, adjacent to the edge of the scenic zone. It lies 30 kilometers south of Shenyang, 14 kilometers east of Xinchengzi District, and faces Xinmin City and Faku County across the river to the west and north.

The scenic area boasts beautiful natural landscapes and a superior environment. Seven Star Mountain was formed in the late Jurassic period and consists of seven peaks, including Nanshan and Tashan. The scenic area derives its name from the mountain formation’s resemblance to the Big Dipper. The mountains are crisscrossed with ravines and layered with lush greenery, featuring over twenty valleys such as Fox Valley. On the southern slope of Tashan, there is a spring with clear, sweet water that flows year-round, offering excellent conditions for development and construction.

The scenic area is rich in cultural heritage and historical sites. It includes an ancient pagoda built in 1074 during the Liao Dynasty, stone Buddha statues and temples constructed by the Tuoba clan of the Northern Wei Dynasty, the ruins of the “Shuangzhou Ancient City,” and the site of the Han Family Garden built during the Liao and Jin periods. Additionally, as the scenic area lies along the Liao River—one of China’s four major rivers—it served as a key transportation and strategic hub in ancient times. Remnants of the Ming Dynasty border wall and beacon towers, fortifications built by Zuo Baogui during the Qing Dynasty, commemorative monuments, and modern war bunkers are scattered throughout the area. Since ancient times, it has been praised with lines such as “The distant pagoda casts shadows as mountain mist thickens, while the clear flute sound mingles with cool water breezes.”

The local culture is simple and unique. The surroundings of the Seven Star Mountain Scenic Area are the homeland of the Xibe ethnic group and a settlement area for the Korean ethnic group, while also home to members of the Manchu and Mongolian minorities. It features some of the most well-preserved ethnic minority villages near Shenyang. With distinct ethnic characteristics and diverse cultural traditions, it is an ideal destination for developing folk-custom-themed tourism.
