Lilac Lake Park is located in the northwest of Shenyang, bordered by the Yuhu Railway Connection Line to the west, Kunshan Road and the Shenyang–Shanhaiguan Railway to the south, and the Liuling Irrigation Canal to the east. In addition to providing a leisure space for residents, it will also improve the ecological and residential environment in the western part of Shenyang. It is expected to boost investment attraction and tourism development in the Hong District. With a water surface area of 3.1 square kilometers and a 9-kilometer scenic road, it is the largest artificial lake in Shenyang. Four recreational squares, three waterside platforms, and four viewing decks have been built around the lake, making it another important waterside leisure destination for the residents of Shenyang.

Behind the poetic name “Lilac Lake” lies a story spanning over 300 years. Legend has it that in the eighth year of the Shunzhi era, or 1651 AD, a declining noble family surnamed Xian from Huangxian County in Shandong Province migrated northward to the northwest of Shengjing (now near Lilac Lake). In Lilac Village by the lake, Xinbei found the 10th-generation descendant of the Xian family, 68-year-old Mr. Xian Yunling. The origin of Lilac Lake is closely tied to the migration of this family.

Centered around Lilac Lake, a new urban area integrating commerce, tourism, and residential living—Lilac Lake New Town—is planned for development. Currently, areas directly adjacent to the lake have been included in the new urban planning. These color-coded zones will be redeveloped according to their functional roles, including schools and mixed-use commercial-residential spaces. Transportation convenience will also be a key asset to the area’s vibrancy. The Third Ring Expressway soars above the lake, leaping across the water. The Second Ring Expressway runs close by, and it takes less than half an hour to reach Taoxian Airport from here. Moreover, the terminus of Bus 136, which provides direct access to Shenyang North Railway Station, has been located by the lakeside. As a large-scale project, Lilac Lake can be regarded as the crowning achievement of Shenyang’s comprehensive water system initiatives, following the development of the Ring Water System, Pu River System, and the Mother River Hun River. The emergence of Lilac Lake is set to transform this once quiet land into a rising new hub in the northwest of Shenyang.
