Temple of Tang Seng

The Temple of Tang Seng is located in Tangsengmiao Village, Zhangqiang Town. It is said to have been built during the Chongzhen era of the Ming Dynasty, originally serving as the family temple of the Mongolian Bao clan. It was expanded and renovated in the mid-Qing Dynasty and rebuilt as a Mongolian-style temple. The temple complex consists of over 200 rooms, divided into five sections: the main temple, eastern and western meditation halls, eastern granary, and western granary. With its grand architectural scale and exquisite sculptures, it is the largest temple in the county. The temple once housed a large cauldron capable of cooking rice for three dan and two dou (an ancient unit of volume), as well as meat porridge for two oxen, enough to feed 1,000 people for one day. At its peak, it had over 200 monks. In the old days, temple fairs were held on the 15th and 25th of the first lunar month. The temple was demolished in 1950.
