Shenyang Haiyin Temple

Shenyang Haiyin Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Haiyin Chan Temple is located by the beautiful Wolong Lake in the natural scenic area on Tianlong Mountain, embraced by a forest park. The temple was first established on September 13, 2000, the 16th day of the eighth lunar month in the year 2545 of the Buddhist calendar. Prior to construction, it received approval from the religious affairs bureaus at the county, city, and provincial levels. The site registration certificate number is Zongchang Zheng Zi (Liao) Shen 0130027F Jia Hao, covering a land area of 5,280 square meters with a built-up area of 3,347 square meters.

Thanks to the care and support of governments at all levels, and the generous contributions of benefactors, Abbot Master Kongzhao led monastic and lay disciples in ten years of hard work to build the first Buddhist temple in Kangping after the founding of New China. Outside the temple is an archway plaza, while inside there are the Heavenly King Hall, Bell and Drum Towers, Mahavira Hall, Reclining Buddha Hall, Scripture Depository, Manjushri and Samantabhadra Hall, Guanyin Pavilion, Ksitigarbha Hall, Patriarchs Hall, Sangharama Hall, Dragon King Hall, Dharmapala Hall, North and South Side Buildings, monastic quarters, lay practitioners’ area, Amitabha Recitation Hall, Guest Reception Hall, and Dining Hall.

The temple houses sixty solemn and magnificent statues. With strict monastic discipline, a serene sacred space, harmonious monastic community, steadfast faith, flourishing incense offerings, and a growing congregation, the temple held the inauguration and consecration ceremony for the Mahavira Hall on September 21, 2004, the eighth day of the eighth lunar month in the year 2549 of the Buddhist calendar. Government and religious affairs leaders from the provincial, city, and county levels attended, including Director Miao, Liu Yuxin, and others, who delivered speeches. Dignitaries such as the Provincial Religious Bureau Director, City Religious Bureau Director, County Party Committee Leaders, County Governor, County CPPCC Chairman, County Political Consultative Conference leaders, County Religious Affairs Bureau Director, County Justice Bureau Director, County Culture and Tourism Bureau Director, and County Ethnic and Religious Affairs Bureau Director were present to witness and offer blessings.

The establishment of Haiyin Chan Temple filled the void of having no temple in the Kangping area, ending a fifty-year period during which 350,000 local residents had no access to Buddhist teachings. Like a bodhi seed, it has blossomed in northern Liaoning; like a spark, it is igniting the frontier. It is a school nurturing future Buddhist cultivators, guiding countless people toward goodness. It is a lamp of wisdom, illuminating the ignorance in the hearts of sentient beings here. It will endure through generations, fostering the Buddhist affinity of the local community.

Self-Drive Route: From Shenyang, enter the Shenyang-Kangping Expressway, then exit at Yinoubaozi onto G203. Turn left onto Shunshanwu Road, then right onto Beishan Road to arrive.
