Shenyang Imperial Temple Square is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Imperial Temple, also known as the Shisheng Temple, has the full name Lotus Pure Land Shisheng Temple. It is located in Imperial Temple Square in Heping District, Shenyang. Longtime residents of Shenyang know that the temple was specially built during the early Qing Dynasty by Emperor Hong Taiji to enshrine a large golden statue of Mahakala. It was completed in the first year of the Chongde era (1636) during the reign of Emperor Taizong of the Qing Dynasty, and was a royal temple commissioned by decree of Hong Taiji, the leader of the Jurchen people.

Because Mahakala is the most important protector deity in Tibetan Buddhism, possessing sacred and inviolable supernatural power, Shenyang Imperial Temple became the only royal temple in Shengjing City (Shenyang) at the time where the Jurchen people, who resided in Shengjing, revered Tibetan Buddhism and enshrined their chief deity in a dedicated building.
