Former Site of Fengtian Railway Station

The former site of Fengtian Railway Station in Shenyang (now Shenyang Railway Station), located at No. 2 Shengli South Street, Heping District, Shenyang City, is a provincial-level key cultural relic protection unit in Liaoning Province. In 1895, after China’s defeat in the First Sino-Japanese War, it ceded the Liaodong Peninsula to Japan as compensation. However, for its own Far Eastern interests, Russia, together with Germany and France, pressured Japan to withdraw from Liaodong, and in return, Russia gained the right to build the Chinese Eastern Railway in Northeast China. In 1905, Russia lost the Russo-Japanese War and subsequently ceded the southern section of the Chinese Eastern Railway to Japan. As a result, Japan acquired the railway and the vast surrounding railway zones. After obtaining the southern section of the Chinese Eastern Railway, Japan renamed it the South Manchuria Railway. In October 1909, Japan began constructing Fengtian Railway Station, which was completed in July 1910. The station is a building that blends European and Japanese architectural styles, with two floors and a construction area of over 1,700 square meters. The structure has undergone multiple expansions over time, resulting in its current scale.

Protected Area: A zone extending 6 meters south and north of the outer base of the building’s exterior walls, extending west to the protective boundary line on the east side of the Soviet Red Army Martyrs Monument, and west to within the railway lines on the east side of Shenyang Station.

Construction Control Zone: A Category IV construction control zone extending 30 meters east, south, and north beyond the protected area.
