Zhongshan Square in Dalian, located in Zhongshan District of Dalian City, covers a total area of 22,000 square meters with a diameter of 168 meters. The square is circular and radiates outward, with 10 major roads extending from it in all directions. It is also known as Zhongshan Music Square because high-end speakers are installed around the square, playing world-famous music at scheduled times every day. Most of the surrounding buildings were constructed in the early 20th century, featuring Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, and Eclectic styles, giving the area a strong European flair. The central round platform paved with jade is elegant and eye-catching; many of the surrounding buildings were built during the Japanese-Russian period and are now mostly used by financial institutions, making the square the financial center of Dalian as well. Across from the square is the Dalian Hotel, a three-star establishment built in 1909 during the Japanese occupation, which was the most upscale hotel in Dalian at the time and was called the Yamato Hotel.

The raised circular platform in the middle of the square serves as an open-air stage and is a public entertainment space for residents. When night falls, hundreds of locals gather here to dance to the music, creating a joyful and peaceful scene. Since there is no admission fee for dancing, the crowd mainly consists of working-class citizens and migrant workers.

Zhongshan Square, now bearing deep historical imprints, has become the busiest central business district in Dalian. After several renovations, the square has become an ideal place for locals to relax and exercise, and for office workers to take a midday break. At sunrise, the square comes alive with people practicing Tai Chi, playing shuttlecock in circles, rollerblading gracefully, and performing the Yangko dance with enthusiasm. Flocks of pigeons flutter up and down, while the charming historic buildings awaken from their slumber to begin a brand-new day. When night falls, the illuminated lights cast the most enchanting hues over the harmonious architectural complex, interweaving with the glow of surrounding traffic to form a colorful symphony. The bustling pedestrians flow like moving notes, harmonizing with the gentle melodies playing in the square, each living out their own vibrant stories.
