Dalian Naval Square

Dalian’s “Naval Square” is the third navy-named square in the world. It is located south of Erqi Square in Dalian, right in front of the municipal Party committee building. The square is surrounded by musical fountains, and on its southern side stands a flagpole and a large relief sculpture depicting the development history of the navy.

The square covers an area of 69,000 square meters, including 25,000 square meters of hard paving and 44,000 square meters of lawn and greenery. The square is equipped with various lighting fixtures and a sound system consisting of eight long-range speaker systems that deliver a powerful, wide-ranging audio experience. A 500-meter-long fountain, controlled by computer, forms six different water patterns that surge toward the pool in time with the music, symbolizing the sacred duty of the People’s Navy to firmly defend the nation’s vast maritime territory. The square also features a 70-meter-long relief wall and hyper-realistic statues of naval soldiers, with a golden anchor and silver rudder representing the training of People’s Navy sailors. The center of the square is paved with granite.
