Former Site of Dalian Exchange

The former site of Dalian Exchange is a cultural heritage protection unit of Liaoning Province.

The former site of Dalian Exchange is located at No. 1 Gangwan Street, Zhongshan District, Dalian. On June 28, 2013, it was included in the fifth batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units in Dalian.

The former site of Dalian Exchange is located at No. 1 Gangwan Square, Zhongshan District, Dalian, Liaoning Province, People's Republic of China, and was built in 1913. The Dalian Exchange, also known as the Dalian Important Commodities Exchange, features an architectural style that blends Japanese and Western eclectic elements, with a construction area of 9,744 square meters. The Dalian Important Commodities Exchange was a state-run trading institution under Japanese administration, capitalized at 3 million yen, and operated three trading markets: the Currency Exchange, the Grain Exchange, and the Five-Commodity Exchange. The Japanese colonial authorities used the exchange to suppress Chinese merchants and control important local resources such as soybeans, soybean cakes, and soybean oil produced in Dalian. During the Japanese occupation period, brokers were required to pay a deposit of 4,000 yen and could only enter the exchange for trading after approval. The Dalian Exchange ceased operations on October 31, 1939. After 1945, the building was used as an office by the Dalian Marine Police Bureau. It was later used as an office by the Liaoning Metals & Minerals Import & Export Corporation. Currently, it is occupied by Bank of Dalian.

Protected Area: A 5-meter perimeter extending outward from the outer base of the main walls of the historic structure constitutes the protected area.
