The Longtan Taoist Temple Scenic Area is located on Longtan Mountain in Delisi Town, northern Wafangdian City. With an elevation of 425.3 meters, Longtan Mountain consists of northern and southern peaks that stand tall and facing each other, offering beautiful scenery. Along the mountain’s ridgeline, there are ancient city walls built during the Sui Dynasty, stretching approximately 4 kilometers. The mountain fortress has two gates, one in the east and one in the west, both strategically constructed; the area within the walls is covered with towering trees that block out the sun. In a mountain hollow lies an ancient temple called Longhua Palace, which serves as the center of Taoist activities in southern Liaoning. In a mountain dell there is also a clear pool named Longtan (Dragon Pool), whose depth is unfathomable—it never dries up in prolonged drought nor overflows during heavy rain, making it quite a marvel. This pool is known as one of the “Eight Scenic Spots of Ancient Fuzhou,” namely the “Mysterious Wonder of Longtan.”
