Dalian Liguan Longwang Temple Tourist Resort is located in Liguan Town, the northern gateway of Dalian City. It is 130 kilometers south of Dalian and 225 kilometers north of Shenyang. National Highway 202 and the Shenyang–Dalian Expressway pass through the area, with the expressway's Liguan exit just 9 kilometers to the east and the Xutun Station of the Changchun–Dalian Railway 16 kilometers to the southeast.

The Longwang Temple Seaside Tourist Resort is a multifunctional tourism destination integrating bathing, sightseeing, and vacationing. It spans a planned area of 16.8 square kilometers, divided into two main zones: the southern and northern areas. It currently receives 300,000 visitors annually and has a daily reception capacity of 20,000. The resort centers around the Longwang Temple Beach, featuring attractions such as white sandstone, a grape production base, a pear orchard, the Fox Fairy Cave, and the Divine Water Well. Amidst the coastal hills and valleys, the towering Longwang Temple, the mysterious Fox Fairy Cave, the mystical Divine Water Well, and the charming Sea-Viewing Pavilion—each site holds beautiful legends, and each legend reflects the glory of history. Every summer, thousands of tourists from across the country flock here to admire the mountain and sea scenery, swim in the sparkling waters, savor fresh seafood, and experience the simple charm of a Liaodong fishing village. Especially during sunset, as fishing boats come and go, seagulls soar, and the evening fishing songs drift on the sea breeze, visitors are often left enchanted and reluctant to leave. Ancient poets once wrote, “Stepping into the Twin Dragons’ scenery feels serene and remote; even the scorching August turns into autumn.”

[Beach] The Longwang Temple Beach boasts crystal-clear seawater, fine and soft sand, a mild and humid climate, and distinct seasons. The beach stretches 1 kilometer long, expanding to 300 meters wide at low tide. It is covered with pebbles and golden gravel—clean, with a balanced firmness, mostly composed of fine sand (about 80% of the particles), primarily quartz with some feldspar fragments. The coastline features a composite of headland-bay and depositional bay types.

[White Sand Mountain] The surrounding area is hilly, with White Sand Mountain as the main peak. Standing 121 meters tall right by the sea, it creates a unique natural landscape where “lofty mountains and the vast ocean merge into one, a sight found nowhere else along the Bohai Sea.” The mountain has a graceful shape, tinged with light red, its slopes blanketed with thick, pristine white sand, dotted with sparse trees—it’s an excellent natural sandboarding spot. The mountain path to the summit is adorned with a round-outside, square-inside copper coin-shaped gate called the “Money Gate.” From the mountaintop, visitors can gaze at the endless sea meeting the sky, waves crashing like snow, sailing boats, and soaring seagulls, all blending harmoniously with nature. To the south of White Sand Mountain lies a shallow bay, while to the north is Golden Elephant Bay, together forming a distinctive coastal landscape where rugged mountains meet the gentle sea.

Golden Elephant Sea and Sky: Looking eastward from Golden Elephant Bay, the gentle slopes of White Sand Mountain stretch into the sea, where erosion has shaped the mountain’s base into what resembles a “drinking elephant” reaching into the water—hence the name Golden Elephant Bay. On the other side, a sandbar like a silken ribbon adorns the shimmering bay, with golden sands rippling with the waves. In the distance, White Sand Beach and Immortal Island peek through the mist. Under the sunlight, the sea and sky merge into a breathtaking panorama.

White Sand Panorama: Rising about 121 meters, White Sand Mountain’s summit is covered in fine white sand. Sparse vegetation includes wildflowers like daylilies and wild berries. On clear days, binoculars reveal distant Huludao across the sea to the north and the reclining Buddha atop the southern hills to the south. From the Sea-Viewing Pavilion at the summit, the endless blue sky and sea, soaring seagulls, and scattered fishing boats create a serene experience. The mountain is also ideal for sandboarding, with slopes leading straight down to Golden Elephant Bay Beach.

Sea Cliff Cloud Forest: Centered around the Liguan Quarry, this area features vast primitive shrubbery with naturally flat grasslands beneath and well-layered flora. The vertical sea cliffs form a rare coastal spectacle. The blue sky, white clouds, green mountains, forests, and ocean blend into a stunning landscape painting.

Reclining Buddha Protecting the Sea: On the southern coast of Longwang Temple Beach lies a rolling mountain range, about 150 meters high, known locally as Sleeping Buddha Ridge. Its staggered peaks align toward the sea, resembling a giant reclining Buddha guarding Shallow Bay. This natural formation, about three li long, exudes tranquility and harmony, becoming a symbol of local auspiciousness. Known as the Sea-Guarding Deity, its legends are widely known among locals.

Twilight Fishing Village: Mornings see fishing boats buzzing out of the harbor in orderly lines. At dusk, under the golden glow, boats return laden with catch, unloading fish amid lively activity. The fresh sea breeze and bustling port embody the unique charm of a fishing village.

Dragon Maiden Washing Sand: The mouth of the Fudu River forms a slender sandbar, fine and clean. One side holds gentle river waters, while the other faces crashing waves. Constantly reshaped by tides, the sandbar sways like a dragon maiden’s lost scarf in the wind.

Pear Orchard by the Mountain: Liguan’s yellow pears are a renowned local specialty—large, beautifully shaped, with paper-thin skin, crisp texture, vibrant color, and delicious taste. In spring, green hills burst with blooming pear blossoms, bees, and butterflies. Summer brings shaded hills, gentle breezes, rustling leaves, and sunlit fruits. Autumn paints the landscape golden, with abundant harvests. Strolling through the orchards, the fragrance of pears is irresistible.

Deep Well Exploration: The once-bustling Huatong Mine, after over 40 years of operation, now stands as an intriguing attraction. Five vertical shafts connect horizontally, with over ten work areas spanning 3,000+ meters. The maze-like tunnels, rich in mining relics, appeal to adventurers and serve as excellent geological field-study sites.

Twin Towers at Sunset: This scenic area includes the Twin Towers, Divine Ox Worshiping the Moon, Immortal Shell and Breeze, and Golden Turtle Praying to Heaven. The Twin Towers stand on offshore reefs, appearing to float at high tide and accessible at low tide. Nearby, a boulder resembles a submerged rhinoceros, its “horn” a lighthouse—thus named Divine Ox Worshiping the Moon. From Golden Elephant Bay, a massive “immortal shell” hill stands against the wind. Near the bay’s other side, at White Sand Mountain’s foot, a peculiar turtle-shaped rock peers westward, as if praying for fair weather.

Auspicious Dragon Returning to the Sea: This area features the Moistening Dragon, Longwang Temple, Hu Immortal Hall, and Fox Fairy Cave. The Moistening Dragon, carved from white marble, stands at Shallow Bay, its intricate design and noble posture symbolizing “nourishing all life and bringing eternal blessings.” The nearby Longwang Temple (also called Guanyin Temple), nestled at the southern foot of White Sand and Qinglong Mountains, was built in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. Surrounded by lush peaks, the temple spans over 10 acres with five grand halls, featuring 99,999 carved dragons. Legend says a green dragon once defeated a white dragon here, prompting the temple’s construction. On the first and fifteenth lunar days, worshippers pray for peace. The Divine Water Well, 200 meters east of the temple, is an ancient spring. It’s said Emperor Gaozu of Tang dug this well during his eastern campaign; its water refreshed soldiers instantly. About five feet deep and three feet wide, the well never dries up, even in droughts, and its “miraculous” water cures ailments. The Fox Fairy Cave, halfway up Qinglong Mountain, has a mysterious entrance guarded by jagged rocks and thorny bushes. A 200-step stone staircase leads to the cave, where a fox spirit allegedly became immortal, healing villagers. The cliffside fortress, blending Eastern and Western architectural styles, adds to the area’s charm. Other sights include the Hu Immortal Hall and the Goddess Temple.
