Laomao Mountain is located in Maoshan Village, Wanjieling Town, Wafangdian City, with an elevation of 848 meters. It is the highest peak in Wafangdian City and the second highest in southern Liaoning. The mountain features majestic peaks, undulating ridges, steep rocks, uniquely shaped pines, lush flowers and forests, and murmuring streams—making it a renowned and picturesque tourist destination.

Laomao Mountain is blessed with natural beauty and boasts extraordinary landscapes. There are naturally sculpted wonders such as Stone, Human-Shaped Rock, Dragon Head Rock, and Crouching Tiger Ridge. There’s also the year-round cool “Dragon Spring ‘Dragon’s Saliva’,” the breezy summer retreat “Cliff Corridor,” and the ever-flowing “Spring on the Rock.” You can see the “Hanging Pines” growing dramatically from cliffs, the century-old “Lover’s Cypresses” standing side by side, the ancient stone temple, and the spiritual Ling Shen Temple. The area also holds untapped potential for natural mineral water development. From the mountaintop, visitors can gaze into the distance and enjoy breathtaking, refreshing views that open the mind and invigorate the senses.

Laomao Mountain is rich in treasures, with abundant flora and fauna. Flower varieties include the goddess magnolia, wild peony, and red azalea. It is home to hundreds of precious medicinal herbs such as ginseng, gentian, bupleurum, lithospermum, and ganoderma. Wildlife includes pheasants, larks, thrushes, Chinese bulbuls, squirrels, rabbits, roe deer, deer, badgers, foxes, and even the nationally protected Chinese giant salamander. Near the streams, you might spot crayfish playing in the water, frogs leaping, and fish swimming—offering a lively and delightful experience.

Laomao Mountain offers scenic beauty in all four seasons, each more pleasing to the eye than the last. In spring, the azaleas bloom across the mountains, painting the hillsides a brilliant pink in a unique natural spectacle. In summer, dense shade covers the area, cool breezes blow, and crystal-clear streams invite visitors to bathe, cool off, and escape the heat—an ideal summer retreat. In autumn, the golden winds bring red foliage, fragrant wild fruits, and a riot of colors that soothe the soul and leave lasting memories.
